RULES OF PLAY
OVERVIEW
The SOGO GOLF App
The SOGO GOLF competition structure will be hosted exclusively via the SOGO GOLF App “The App”. The App will be available through the Apple App Store and Google Play at zero cost.
In no way is Apple Inc. involved in or related to any contest, competition or sweepstake offer on the SOGO App.
SOGO Tokens
SOGO Tokens will be the currency for entering the SOGO Multi-layered Competition. Each 9-hole competition round can be redeemed for one SOGO Token. An 18-hole round can be redeemed for two SOGO Tokens, and will also count as 2 x 9-hole rounds.
The terms of use of SOGO Tokens is described within the SOGO GOLF Conditions of Entry.
Your information
All information gathered through the use of The App will be subject to the SOGO GOLF Privacy Policy.
Rules of Golf
All SOGO GOLF Competitions will be conducted under the Rules of Golf. As well as this, all players must follow and abide by the Local Rules applied by the course that they are intending to play.
Handicap
All SOGO GOLF competitions will be played using the GA Handicap System.
Players may be issued a ‘SOGO Handicap’ when competing in the certain events. The SOGO Handicap calculation will be different to the GA handicap, in that it will recognise the qualification scores of a golfer as well as their current handicap.
SOGO Golf reserves the right to adjust the effective handicap of any SOGO member should they determine it is not a true reflection of that member’s current level of ability. This will be done in consultation with the member and will not have an impact on their official GA Handicap.
Competition Tees
All SOGO rounds must be played on tees with a registered slope rating for that golf club. All tees with a slope rating will be available for selection via The App.
Scoring Format
All SOGO rounds will be played using the stableford scoring system. This type of scoring allows golfers with a range of abilities to compete against one another, while limiting the impacts of bad holes for beginning golfers.
The SOGO Competition Structure
The SOGO Season
The SOGO season will run from 1st January to 31st December each calendar year.
SOGO Multi-layered Competition Structure
Every competition round played, hereafter referred to as a “Round”, will count towards a multi-layered competition structure including a weekly national 9-hole competition, a weekly national 18-hole competition (for 18-hole entrants only), a monthly national-based 9-hole competition, a monthly national-based 18-hole competition, an annual national 9-hole competition and an annual national 18-hole competition (for 18-hole entrants only).
SOGO WEEKLY 9
Every Round that is played using The App will be automatically entered into qualifying for the SOGO Weekly 9 competition. The SOGO Weekly 9 is a nationwide 9-hole event. The winner will be determined by their best stableford score for a single Round during that period. Only one score per contestant will appear on the leaderboards. The cut-off for SOGO Weekly 9 Rounds will be 11:59pm AEST (or AEDST) Friday night each week, at which time the following SOGO Weekly 9 competition will become active. Final results will be available on App leaderboards.
The top 3 place-getters of the SOGO Weekly 9 competition will receive the nominated prize for that competition, typically in the form of SOGO Tokens.
SOGO WEEKLY 18
Every 18-hole Round that is played using The App will be automatically entered into qualifying for the SOGO Weekly 18 competition. The SOGO Weekly 18 is a nationwide 18-hole event. The winner will be determined by the best stableford score for a single Round during that period. Only one score per contestant will appear on the leaderboards. The cut-off for SOGO Weekly 18 Rounds will be 11:59pm AEST (or AEDST) on Friday of that week, at which time the following SOGO Weekly 18 competition will become active. Final results will be available on App leaderboards.
The top 3 place-getters of the SOGO Weekly 18 competition will receive the nominated prize for that competition, typically in the form of SOGO Tokens.
SOGO Monthly 9
Every Round that is played using The App will be automatically entered into qualifying for the SOGO Monthly 9 competition. The SOGO Monthly 9 is a nationwide event. The winner will be determined by calculating the best 3 x 9-hole SOGO Rounds submitted in that calendar month. The cut-off for SOGO Monthly 9 Rounds will be 11:59pm AEST (or AEDST) on the last day of that month, at which time the following SOGO Monthly 9 competition will become active. Final results will be available on App leaderboards.
The top 3 place-getters of the SOGO Monthly 9 competition will also be awarded a range of prizes. These prizes will be communicated prior to the commencement of the SOGO Season.
SOGO Monthly 18
Every Round that is played using The App will be automatically entered into qualifying for the SOGO Monthly 18 competition. The SOGO Monthly 18 is a nationwide event. The winner will be determined by calculating the best 3 x 18-hole SOGO Rounds submitted in that calendar month. SOGO ANNUAL 18

The top 10 place-getters of the SOGO Annual 18 competition will also be awarded a range of prizes and/or tokens. These prizes will be communicated prior to the commencement of the SOGO Season.
SOGO MAJORS
The SOGO Major series will be open to all SOGO members and will coincide with the official Golfing Majors. Each of these four events will be held across four weeks and will count the best 18 hole score during the first 2 week period and the best 18 hole score during the second 2 week period.
The winner will be the golfer with the highest two round aggregate stableford score. In the event of a tie, a playoff will be held on a date determined by Sogo Golf. Each golfer will compete at a course of their choosing accompanied by an approved marker.
Winners of a SOGO Major will receive a SOGO Major Jacket. Winners and place-getters of the SOGO Major will also be awarded a range of prizes. These prizes will be communicated prior to the commencement of the SOGO Major.
SOGO GOLF Rules of Play
Tie Breakers
There will be no tiebreakers in the SOGO Weekly, Monthly and Annual Competitions. All players that finish on the winning stableford score in either the SOGO Weekly, Monthly and Annual Competitions will share the winning position on the leaderboard and the associated prizes.
Prizes
All prizes will be issued in accordance with the R&A amateur status guidelines. Prizes may be issued for SOGO Weekly, Monthly, Annual and Major competitions at SOGO’s discretion.

Changes to the Rules of Play
SOGO Management reserves the right to amend these rules at any time. SOGO Management will conduct a review and update of these rules at the commencement of each SOGO Season and communicate this to all members.
SOGO Management will endeavour to only change these rules during the SOGO Season where a clarification is required, or if an urgent change is necessary to maintain the integrity and fairness of the SOGO GOLF Competition.
The Rules of Play will be subject to any changes to the overarching Rules of Golf.
